Writing Content For Search Engines

July 10, 2009 By: admin Category: Internet Marketing

Content That Search Engines Love…

One of the most important steps to take to ensure that your site is successful is to have a site that is well-loved by search engines. This is actually fairly easy to do—but also fairly easy not to do. It is a known fact that well-placed keywords and keyword phrases on a piece of content will attract search engine spiders. It is also a well-known fact that keyword stuffing—using keywords way too much—will repel spiders and stop them from putting your site on a search engine.

So what is the delicate balance of having just the right amount of keywords and keyword phrases? How do you achieve it? How do you make sure you aren’t overusing keywords? In this newsletter, we will go over all of the above to help make your site keyword optimized.

How do I write content that the search engines love?

The easy answer is to make sure your content has several keywords. But how is this done in a natural way so not as to hurt your traffic from actual human beings? Well, it all comes down to naturally putting keywords into your content. We’ll briefly go over this process.

1) Sit down and decide what your content will be about.

If your site is all about sports, figure out what kinds of sports content you’ll put on there. Maybe you’ll write about basketball or golf or football or any other sport. Or if you’re running a music site, you could write content about a particular style of music or band/artist. The point is, make sure that whatever content you write is relevant to your site.

2) Make a list of keywords that are relevant to your content

So if you’re writing a music article, these keywords could be:

Rock, Pop, Country, Rap, R&B, Hip Hop, Guitar

But try to narrow your list down to 2 or 3 keywords. The first keyword should be a primary keyword(used at least 10 times in a 500 word document) and the other one or two should be secondary keywords(used a few times each in a 500 word document).

3) Begin writing the content.

As you write each sentence, try to think about where the primary and secondary keywords might fit in. Wherever it seems natural, use the keywords. However, you should never try to make them fit where they don’t fit. If it looks unnatural, don’t use them.

4) Read over the content.

When you read over the content, try to read it like a visitor would. Do the keywords you’ve tried to incorporate in the text distract you from the meaning of the content? Do the keywords seem blatant?  If they do, rewrite the content to make it flow more naturally.

5) Count the number of keywords and plain words

If you have a 500 word piece of content, you’ll want to see around 5-15 primary keywords sprinkled throughout the content—a keyword density of at least 1%, but ideally 3%. Keyword density is the number of keywords divided by the total number of words. A keyword density of 1% in a 500 word piece of content would be 5 keywords, while a keyword density of 3% in a 500 word piece of content would be 15 keywords. Strive for 3%.

6) If you don’t have enough keyword density, or have too much, rewrite the content.

Rewrite your content as necessary to have enough keyword density.

Why is keyword “stuffing” bad for my site?

It is bad for your site simply because search engine spiders have been programmed to skip over sites with excessive keywords. These would be sites with keyword densities of at least 10%. Sites like these are known as spam sites—sites created specifically to earn high rankings in a search engine due to high keyword usage. Before, spam sites would be heavily ranked in a search engine, but not anymore. Spiders are smarter than ever, able to detect spam sites from a mile away.

That’s why keyword stuffing is a bad thing for your site—it will actually keep spiders from visiting. Make sure you do not have a keyword density of much more than 5%. Even 5% is considered too high.

Keeping the above things in mind will help you to build a site that search engine spiders love.

How To Implement An Effective Email Marketing Campaign

July 06, 2009 By: admin Category: Internet Marketing

Effective Email Marketing Campaigns

Are you interested in using email marketing to enhance the traffic and sales of your website? It can be a confusing process if you don’t know where to start. You will need to establish your goals before you send the first email. What are you hoping to accomplish? Make sure these goals are clear and realistic. This will help you measure the success of the email marketing campaign. This is a great way to learn what works and what doesn’t for future email marketing campaigns. While your particular goals will vary, some common ones include increasing sales, getting more traffic to the website; improve awareness of about your company and what products or services you offer, and building a solid relationship with your customers.

As you start measuring the success of your email marketing campaign, make sure you are comparing the data only against your own information not that of the industry. For example did your sales increase by 10% and traffic to your site increase by 25% after your email marketing campaign rather than discovering the rate that sales and traffic increased for the entire industry you are in.

Don’t be discouraged if your first email marketing campaign doesn’t do as well as you hoped, especially if you are a new business. It takes time to build trust with consumers. Make sure you use your original email address when you send out the emails. This will help it get past the spam filters.

Make sure you take the time to update your email listings. Remove any requests to opt out quickly and efficiently to respect the consumer’s privacy. You will be wasting your time to email to incorrect addresses or those who don’t want your materials. Never change the first part of a person’s email address even if the mail is undeliverable. However it is a good idea to look for misspellings in the email service provider name such as Yahoo being Yaho or Hotmail being Hotmall.

Some businesses like to use an email marketing template. Don’t get too comfortable with a successful marketing campaign though! This is because customers become bored easily with the same format. You need to keep their interest by mixing things up a bit in future email marketing campaigns. Opt in email marketing software collects email addresses from your website. This is a great method that is simple for getting you a data base started. As your data base grows you can choose to send your future email marketing campaigns to everyone on the list or just a select target group based on their purchasing history.

You will need to design your email marketing campaign very well. It needs to be attractive to hold the attention of the consumer long enough for them to decide it is worth reading. You don’t want your efforts to be mistaken for common spam or junk mail right? Make sure all the content is spelled correctly. Keep the text short and to the point. Readers who open your email may choose to delete it or save it to read later if it looks to lengthy. You want them to open it, be captivated, and read it. The first sentences need to identify your company and what you are offering. Place the important information first. Then reader is likely to keep reading. Give them a sense of urgency for responding by clearing stating the day the promotional offers expire.

Email marketing is an effective tool if you take the time to use it properly. It is anticipated to be the most used method of advertising on the internet by 2008. While this means you will have lots of opportunity to market your business, it also means there is going to be a great deal of competition trying to get consumers to look at their business. You will have to be creative and work hard to develop effective email marketing campaigns that are attractive, informative, and encourage the consumer to take action.

Why Video Demos Work!

July 02, 2009 By: admin Category: Internet Marketing

Let’s face it. The internet is a very convenient shopping establishment. You don’t need to lose time getting to a store and you don’t lose money for paying cab fare or gasoline. The only thing that I lose is money when my wife goes on an inspired shopping binge. As a result of this convenience, more and more people are regularly logging onto the internet to shop. Manufacturers, distributors, independent shops, importers and exporters realize the strong earning potential by being online. The internet has its own economy and the potential to earn money is incalculable.

For this reason, marketing firms and advertising agencies joined the bandwagon with frenzy. You have this newsletter as a result of this new economic development. Every year, different strategies are being formulated, developed, tested and applied to better and improve existing advertising and marketing methods.

At the start, most advertisements were in the form of combination text and picture messages. Pop-up windows were developed to open new browsers windows where products and ideas could be advertised. This improved to animated pictures with text and finally to full streaming video with audio.

The pop-up text and picture window was a success; but not as much as advertisers and marketing specialists hoped it would be. For one thing, people soon grew tired of these pop-ups that, as soon as they appeared, they were immediately closed. You wouldn’t stare at a billboard you see everyday, right? To further add to the loss of advertising opportunities, anti-virus software and other protection software utilities were created to
prevent pop-up messages from appearing. Mozilla developed the Firefox internet browser which has a built-in feature that immediately blocks pop-up windows from being opened. Pop-up windows became, and still is, an annoyance much like marketing and advertising spam messages.

During this period in internet history, advertising through television still had no significant rival until internet video streaming was created. Let us analyze why videos are a more effective means of communicating.

The immediate and main concern of advertisers is to grab the interest of the consumer. When a new billboard is put up, you might stare at it for a couple of weeks before it becomes a common sight that you begin to ignore it. The same principle applies for pop-up windows. Pop-up windows are fun in the beginning because of their novel nature. Wow! I get to see all these special and discounted offers for different merchandise. After a while, however, it becomes an annoyance every time it interrupts your browsing. Also, staring at a picture will not turn it into a frog prince. You can only stare at an inanimate object for so long before you get bored. When boredom sets in because of monotony or constant repetition, the advertisers fail their jobs.

This is why advertising through television and internet video streaming is a most effective tool. The ability of a moving or animated picture to capture attention knows no bounds. Just look at people stopping in front of shops that sell TV sets to watch the videos being played. Advertisers know that a moving, talking and colorful video is an easy way to grab a person’s attention. In the internet, video streaming replaces television commercials
as the number one method for marketing and advertising.

For businesses that require movies or trailers as a method of demonstrating their product, internet video streaming comes in very handy. Watching a moving picture that demonstrates how to assemble your child’s plastic swing is simply better than reading a manual.

Websites that offer online cooking classes will find video streaming a very helpful tool in demonstrating cooking methods and technique. A mechanic giving instruction on how to change your car’s fuel, oil and air filters is certainly a better option than reading a manual. Internet video streaming is a definite advantage to entrepreneurs who want their customers to understand the merchandise they are selling. If your customer understands how to use and knows about every detail of the product you’re selling, chances are he will trust your product and choose to buy your brand over anyone else’s.

Video in eCommerce

July 01, 2009 By: admin Category: Internet Marketing

The most common misconception people have for internet audio and video applications are with their usage. More often, video with audio, or one of these alone, are viewed as materials for entertainment or leisure in the internet. This misconception is beginning to fade fast.

The most obvious reason is the way audio and video are used as teasers to wet the appetites of prospective customers. The best examples of all websites that use this method are the shopping websites. These websites that sell hot selling products will design their web pages in such a way that highlights of a whole movie are embedded within the web page. In this manner, they hope to persuade the browsing public, who view the partial material, to purchase the product. In simpler terms, a viewable movie trailer is added to the site.

For commercial vendor websites that primarily sell movies and music, video and audio utilities are an integral part of their marketing strategy. They understand that most people want to see and/or hear what they are buying. They know that using video and audio to show their merchandise to customers wins half the battle for them to get the customers to buy.

For websites that are focused on selling published materials like books and audio books, a few narrated passages or several sample chapters of the material encoded in audio files is a good way to encourage a customer to buy their product.

Furthermore, testimonials of previous customers have a better chance of being noticed than those that are just encoded in text. Most people usually go to a website for a specific reason. For example, one person wants to buy an independent video but he/she does not know which independent video vendor website to go to. This person will use a search engine to find what he/she needs. Once found, that person will go directly to the part of the website where the video he/she is looking for exists.

In cases like these, the home or welcome page is bypassed where, most likely, all of the testimonials are situated. With audio and/or video applications installed in the web site, the testimonials can be streamed to the customer automatically to whichever part of the website he/she is in. Of course, using audio/video streaming now to project your testimonials is a bit extreme at the moment. However, future technology will make audio/video streaming a material of lesser bulk in terms of data transfer. There will come a time when the whole internet can be browsed by vocal commands.

To get back to the subject at hand, the ability of being able to project your merchandise, testimonials, and other points you want your customers to be aware of, by using audio/video technology is limitless and powerful. A single video clip lasting around 10 seconds is no longer considered a huge burden as far as electronic data storage is concerned.

What can you, as an entrepreneur, place into a 10 seconds long video so that you can gain your customers’ trust or make them aware of your other merchandise? Now, 10 seconds is a relatively short time, but it is plenty enough time for people to convey several points of view. If a 10 second video is worth more that a lot of text writings, what more a video that is 20 or 30 seconds long?

Internet audio and video streaming technology is getting more and more sophisticated. All you have to do is look around you and you will see people watching videos and listening to music with their I-pods, MP3 and MP4 players. Incidentally, the best sources for their audio and video needs can be found on the internet. So, imagine all the audio/video data streaming, downloading and uploading around in the internet, and you will have a good idea of just how measly a 10 second video is in terms of today’s technology.

The use of audio/video streaming on the internet is a powerful marketing tool. However, the technology for it has matured enough in that audio and video files use more space from storage devices such as hard drives and I-pods. Already, hard drives of computers have transcended the megabyte barrier and are now storing gigabytes of data.

Video as an Advertising Tool

June 30, 2009 By: admin Category: Internet Marketing

When you go to internet websites that activate pop-up screens in your browser, what you usually see are text and picture combinations that you usually ignore and close immediately because they are bothersome and not really interesting.

You do pause and look at the pop-up screen if it contains some animated pictures or flashing images. When you pass by a store that sells television sets while walking, you look at the screens that have something playing or displayed in them. Between these comparisons, you will find the difference between still and animated images in terms of grabbing a person’s attention.

A still picture will remain a still picture no matter how long and which way you stare at it. An animated picture or video, on the other hand, will grab your attention by arousing your curiosity. Usually, it’s because you want to find out what happens next. It’s all about arousing curiosity.

The internet as it is today allows for streaming video technology that will let you view a whole movie online if you want to. In being able to use this technology to grab a person’s attention, advertisers are getting more and more creative with their strategies. I will look at a moving image because I want to know what it is and what will happen to it. Advertisers know that I will do this and so will the majority of other people browsing the internet.

Even so, unless the individual viewing the animation or video is interested in the advertised product at that time, advertisers will fail to convince a person to spend money. Of course, this is beside the point. The immediate goal of an advertiser is to grab attention.

Sometime in the future, the individual will remember seeing the advertisement and will most likely make a purchase because of that simple memory. The memory of it is carried subconsciously and will resurface at a time when you need the product or see the product as you pass by it in the shelves of your favorite grocery store.

To compare to other forms of videos that grab attention, early infants and older children are fascinated by learning modules in video form. A story book with still pictures is just not enough to grab a child’s hyperactive mind. Again, video grabs attention by acting on the curiosity of the viewer.

Curiosity is perhaps the most powerful motivator in a person. For example, the “Stargate SG1” television series shown by the Sci-Fi channel in the US is not available for viewing in some countries. Video grabs a person’s curiosity faster than you can blink (that’s because you won’t be blinking).

Animated pictures and videos are very powerful advertising tools. If an advertising video upon its creation is imbued with humor, a bit of suspense and, finally, relevance to the general public, its effects will be visibly seen in the black ink accountants’ use in their books to indicate income.

Please remember that when you want to sell an idea or product, the best way to grab a person’s attention is by arousing his curiosity through the use of videos. Video is the fastest and most efficient tool when it comes to getting your message across. Human beings are very curious animals and they love good stories.

Videos Increase Trust

June 30, 2009 By: admin Category: Internet Marketing, Residual Income

Everyday consumers commonly think of online businesses as high technology enterprises. While there are indeed some websites that deal in high tech merchandise, most vendor websites trade mostly mundane materials like clothes, beddings and linen and other ordinary stuff we use in our daily lives.

With common enterprises like these, the website is only another selling point for their inventory. What will be mostly displayed in these websites are pictures and short text descriptions of products. On the other hand, vendors that deal with high tech materials design their websites in such a way that it reflects the level of technology they work with.

In the eyes of a common consumer, websites that do not exhibit high technology design are probably failing or disreputable. When browsing consumers find your website somewhat lacking in style and technology, looking for another website that will satisfy their expectations is highly probable.

While it would be considered crass and distasteful to make your website look like the command center of the starship Enterprise, a few smatterings of high tech applications can give your website design reputation a good boost.

In the beginning days of the internet, people tried to make their websites attractive by using lots of blinking and animated pictures in their websites. As website design matured, a more professional and modern feel gradually took over the blinking internet kaleidoscope world.

Today, website design is usually patterned or themed after the owner’s profession or business. Simple but tasteful and professionally elegant are now the norm in designing websites. However, this norm, like technology, is fast becoming obsolete.

As internet availability, data transmission speeds and bandwidths increase, the more options people have for designing a web site. In the beginnings of video streaming, video vendor sites were those that usually contained audio-video streaming capabilities.

They used video clips or trailers of a movie to entice a customer to buy the whole video. Today, almost all vendors of video and audio have portions in their websites reserved for viewing movie trailers and listening to audio teasers.

Of course, it would be a mistake to discount or limit the use of video streaming to video and audio websites. Common vendor sites like Amazon.com can surely use video streaming to further enhance the shopping experience of a customer.

After all, a customer would like to see the merchandise before she actually makes a purchase. Video streaming provides this specific aid to both vendor and consumer. Aside from viewing videos of the product from different camera angles, a short demonstration of the product can be included in the video just like they do in TV shopping channels.

Outside of video specific and trade merchandising businesses, video and audio streaming is also useful when it comes to other industries such as medical transcription, online education, medical facilities and personnel inter-connectivity, online tutorials and instructional modules recorded in video format.

Most importantly, the spread of internet video streaming usage signals an advance in technology. With advances and discoveries, opportunities for new ideas and enterprises abound.

While it is great to have new technology available to, we need to put it to good use for it to be beneficial to us. In the case of websites with video streaming, the customer is assured that the products they sell are workable and crafted with quality.

As internet shopping becomes more and more popular, vendor websites will have to see to it that they provide their customers a good look at their product.

Monetize Your Traffic

June 18, 2009 By: admin Category: Internet Marketing, Residual Income

Establishing your own E-commerce site is not like what it used to be. There are thousands of competition that is all too willing to get a bigger share of the pie. Every scheme and method you can find to augment your sales would be very beneficial.

We have got to admit to ourselves. Most of us are into it for the money. We are not going to waste our time and effort just for the fun of it. Many sites would not wait until hell freezes over just to see their profits. While there are some who takes things lightly there are always those who would rather see profit any given day.

It is common knowledge that without traffic we have no business. Like any business, without any customers you don’t get sales. Traffic represents all the people that gets a chance to see what you have to offer. The more people who see your products the more people there would be to buy them.

Nobody puts up an E-commerce site that doesn’t expect profit. We have a startup capital that needs to be regained. With a consistent traffic, we at least have a fighting chance to achieve that probability. Monetizing your traffic would optimize your chances of making the best out of it.

Making Money out of your Traffic
The best and most proven method of making a profit out of your traffic is using advertising. The internet generates hundreds of thousands upon hundred of thousands of traffic everyday. Most of them are searching for something. While some are just looking for information there is also a good percentage that is looking for something that they need.

The internet has proven to be a very reliable source in finding what was deemed to be a very unsearchable product. The internet has made the world a smaller place; you can advertise a product from the depths of Istanbul and still find a buyer from the center of Philadelphia.

Generating traffic is not an easy task. You have to contend with a great number of sites to generate a good number of traffic flow. But if done successfully this could open up a Pandora’s Box of possibilities. One of the benefits is monetizing your traffic flow.

So, to get to the core of it the more traffic you generate the more likely you are considered as a desirable, desirable, in a sense that a good traffic flowing site is easily convertible to profit. Basically traffic equals profit. Advertising is the name of the game; with the good advertising scheme you can use your traffic flow to your advantage.

When you have good traffic you have a good number of potential customers, customers that are willing to pour money into your coffers. Other than that these are also traffic that can be redirected to sponsored links that are willing to pay you for a sizeable portion of the traffic that you have generated.

This scheme is called “pay-per-click”. With every click a visitor of your site makes on an advertised link you will be paid. The more traffic you generate and the more clicks that happens would spell to more profits.

Affiliate Programs
Another method of monetizing your traffic are affiliate programs. You can link up with other tried and tested sites and online companies and monetize your traffic by having a percentage of sales generated by traffic coming from your site.

The basic idea is, traffic generated from your site will go to another site that can offer a product that you do not carry. Many programs can keep track and make records of transactions that was made possible because of site linkage.

When purchases are made by customers that was led by your site to their site you get a percentage of that sale. Affiliate programs would give you the benefit of monetizing your traffic without the actual need of carrying or promoting a certain product.

There are so many ways and methods to monetize your traffic. All it takes is a bit of hard work and the desire to successfully launch a profit-earning site. The internet is a veritable source of information, many tips and guides are offered everywhere in how to monetize your traffic and make your site a good profit earner.

Affiliate programs are marketing tools used by vendor sites such as amazon.com. Basically, you need to sign-up for the program and they will give you an affiliate ID number. You will receive instructions on how to create links to their website from your own website or written article. You can even create links to specific products on their website. When a person clicks on the link you made, the vendor site takes note of the reference number and your ID number. If the customer buys from the vendor, you are given a commission.

In short, you promote their website and products. Once you have it set up, you just wait for the money to come in. Also, affiliates get discounts and bonuses based in the quantity of traffic that they are able to direct to the vendor site.

Autoresponders are the answering machines of the internet. Say, you have a number of products on the internet up for sale. These products are technologically challenging to most people so you will need to provide detailed information on how to operate and maintain the devices.

If you do this on your website, chances are you will have a design problem since this will require large amounts of space on the webpage. With autoresponders, you can place a link for all the nitty-gritty stuff and a pre-composed email message will be sent to the one who requested it. You can place a form where they can write down their email address and place the link below it. You will need to do the pre-composing of those automatic replies too.

Autoresponders can be used in many ways. Aside from answering queries for detailed information requests, autoresponders can also be used as correspondence trackers. Different websites offer autoresponders with different functions. Some of these sites offer autoresponder services for free.

If you happen to have an existing website, you can correspond with another website to have your banner placed on their site. In exchange, you will need to accommodate their banner on your site. The same is true for links. You can place a link to another site while the webmaster of that site can place a link to your site. If you don’t have a banner, you can search for free or paid banner maker utilities in the web.

Internet classified adds are an available option for promoting your website. Some classified ads websites give away their services for free.

If you want to become a big vendor site, the way to go about it is through e-commerce. This entails setting up shopping carts for your customers so they can note down their orders. You will also need to analyze your payment system. Of course, you will need to accept payments from major credit cards but you can allow or deny payments made by check, paypal or money order.

Electronic magazine or E-zines are newsletters that get sent regularly to a list of e-mail recipients. These recipients are subscribed to the E-zine so spamming is not an issue. You need to have an article about your product handy and several links embedded within it just in case the subscriber decides he wants your pocket knife.

With mailing lists, you send out a bunch of emails to a target audience. This is where spam usually comes from. One form of mailing list let’s the consumer decide whether he/she wants to be in your mailing list. This is called the opt-in mailing list. I like this list.

There are still a number of money making ideas and utilities that have not been covered here. To tell you frankly, there are just too many of them to mention. Why not browse around and take a look for yourself. Researching and reading material can be a tedious a process, but the knowledge that you gain it from it might be just what you need to set-up or improve your own internet business.

While there are many money makers out there, beware of those that claim to be able to teach you how to earn yourself thousands in a single week. For one thing, they charge you for it before you can even try.
